ADEX Healthcare Staffing LLC is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Roanoke, Virginia. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 02/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Job Details: • Work 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM • Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block • Must work one holiday per 13-week contract • Patient ratio typically 1:5 • EPIC charting experience required • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS • Minimum 1 year of experience required • Ventilator experience required for chronic trach and vent patients • Floating within skillset required • 24-hour orientation provided • Work in hybrid unit with 10 PCU beds and 2 ICU beds • Care for patients with DKA, COPD, sepsis, suicide/overdose, chronic respiratory failure, and renal failure • Perform cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management • Provide IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care • Administer medications including cardiac drips (no titration) • Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management • Handle rapid response and code team activation • Maintain isolation precautions and telemetry settings • May work without CNA support • First-time travelers accepted but not ideal for first-time travelers Facility: This large acute care facility features over 700 licensed beds and operates as a Level I Trauma Center with Magnet designation. The hospital serves as a teaching facility and offers advanced specialty care including bariatric, trauma, and surgical services. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services.
