Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting, preferably at a large facility. License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS required. Preferred: NIHSS, CCRN. Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience is required. - ICU experience managing ventilated patients, arterial lines, and multiple drips. Description: This position involves working in a critical care unit. The average patient-nurse ratio is 2:1. The unit accommodates a variety of medical and surgical patients, including those with respiratory failures, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations, and diabetic ketoacidosis. Nurses will care for patients recovering from vascular and general surgeries, chest pain episodes, encephalopathies, drug overdoses, renal failures, and sepsis. Responsibilities include managing ventilator patients and assisting at the bedside with procedures. Nurses are required to float within their skillset as needed. Holiday and weekend work is required, and specific scheduling requests must be communicated upfront. Applicants must hold the required certifications and possess the necessary clinical skills to support patient care effectively. Candidates with charge experience are preferred. This role involves comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, and adherence to protocols regarding IV therapy, respiratory support, and endocrine/metabolic management.
