Job Title: RN - Oncology Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Bone Marrow Transplant License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Chemo Certification preferred, OCN or BMTCN preferred Must-Have: - Venipuncture and IV insertion - Central line care - Central line accessing - ONS Chemotherapy administration certification - Wound and skin care - Managing nausea, vomiting, and mucositis - Monitoring lab values - Infection prevention - Transfusion of blood products Description: This position is for an RN specializing in Oncology. The unit has 16 beds with an average census of 14 patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4. CNA support is provided with a ratio of 1:7-8. Required skills include venipuncture, IV insertion, and central line care. Nurses must be able to manage side effects such as nausea and vomiting. Monitoring lab values and infection prevention are critical responsibilities. Transfusion of blood products is also part of the role. Support within the department includes CNAs, unit secretaries, and charge nurses. Technology and equipment used include EMR, IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring.
