something for YOU! In this role one will promote and practice safe
work habits while performing basic repairs and services on light,
heavy duty, and diesel trucks; road construction and maintenance
equipment; hydraulic systems; and electrical components. Specific
Responsibilities will include: Diagnose and Repair – Diagnose,
repair and complete basic tasks on a variety of equipment types
such as tires, brakes, lighting, pumps and valves. Use basic scan
tools to read and clear check engine light codes. Preventative
Maintenance - Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and
equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedule and
guidelines. Maintain Documents and Records - Prepare, process, and
maintain required maintenance and repair documentation. Generate
documents and work orders in computer system. Perform time and
leave entry in appropriate systems. Perform Manual Labor – Perform
manual labor to complete assigned tasks. Complete assigned tasks
and projects as instructed. Minimum Qualifications • Ability to
record and maintain data in computer systems. • Ability to
communicate orally and in writing. • Valid driver's license. •
Skill in the use of computers for research, navigation and
communication. • Ability to read and comprehend and apply
information from service and equipment manuals. • Ability to
perform manual labor. • Skill in performing light vehicle services
and repairs. • Knowledge of general shop procedures. • Safety shoes
required. Additional Considerations • A combination of training,
experience, or education in Equipment Repair, Auto Repair, or
related field desired. • Knowledge of laptop and/or hand-held
diagnostic programs. • Knowledge of general welding practices.

duties may require work outside of normal business hours including
nights, weekends and holidays. VDOT will determine when essential
positions are required to report. Valid Driver’s License and
ability to travel independently among assigned work locations is

by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align
