Job Description:
The Global Education Office (GEO) at Virginia Tech seeks a
detail-oriented, collaborative, and globally-minded Program Manager
to join its faculty-led programs team. GEO is the central hub for
global experiential learning at Virginia Tech and plays a critical
role in supporting the university’s Beyond Boundaries vision,
land-grant mission, and Ut Prosim ethos by expanding participation
in global learning and study abroad. This full-time, in-person role
supports a defined portfolio of faculty-led study abroad programs,
collaborating with faculty leaders, students, providers, and
Virginia Tech’s global centers. The Program Manager is responsible
for comprehensive program management—ranging from student advising
and logistical planning to risk mitigation, financial
administration, and regulatory compliance. The position also
contributes substantially to program recruitment and pre-departure
orientation programming. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited institution • Demonstrated experience
supporting students in an advising, programming, or administrative
capacity • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with
attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities •
Demonstrated experience working effectively with a wide range of
stakeholders, including faculty, students, and external partners •
Excellent communication skills • Basic understanding of financial
processes such as budgeting, billing, or expense tracking •
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software
platforms quickly • Experience living, studying, or working abroad
Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in international
education, higher education, student affairs, or a related field •
Experience managing or supporting faculty-led or short-term study
abroad programs • Familiarity with Terra Dotta or similar study
abroad management systems • Knowledge of international education
standards and best practices (e.g., Forum on Education Abroad,
NAFSA) • Experience coordinating travel logistics, vendor
contracts, or program budgets • Demonstrated ability to support
faculty in program development and implementation • Experience
working in a higher education setting, particularly in global
education or student services Overtime Status Exempt: Not eligible
